Reminders !! · All times posted on the schedule are tentative and NOT definite. The accuracy of these schedules are dependent on the previous games scheduled. If the match before yours finishes early then your scheduled time will move earlier, just like a delayed match will move your schedule later. · So, come early for your matches. · Please register yourself at Match Control when you arrive. · The court requires that all participants use shoes with non-marking soles. · Have fun!!! Tournament Guidelines 1. The 2007 USP Badminton Cup will be composed of elimination rounds to be held at Centro Atletico on 10 March 2007. The main draw will be composed of one hundred forty four (144) players. The round robin format will be followed for the elimination round and knock out system for the final round. 2. The 3 main draws of seventy two (72) pairs will be arranged into three (3) teams of eight (8) pairs. Each division shall be divided into eight (8) skill Classes. Classes will be divided into groups as follows: Class A1, A2, B1, B2, Power Mixed, C1, C2, Elite Class. There will be eight (8) Class Champions and runners-up. 3. This is not a strict gender tournament although extreme gender opponents shall be discouraged (2 men versus 2 ladies). The mixed pair will be universal such that they can be matched against a mixed doubles or same gender doubles pair. All games shall be played under doubles format. 4. The matches shall be played using nine (9) courts and the matches scheduled at the same time shall start simultaneously. A court that gets vacant earlier will be used by the next match in line on that particular court. Should schedule be advanced unusually (2 or more matches advanced) other present players will be called in to use that particular court until such time that the schedule becomes acceptably regular again. 5. All matches shall consist of the best of three (3) games of 21 rally points. STATISTICAL POINT SYSTEM 1. If a pair wins the match in two games, they earn three (3) statistical points, and the losing pair doesn't earn a statistical point. 2. If a pair wins the match in three games, they earn two (2) statistical points, and the losing pair earns one (1) statistical point. Note: The statistical points earned by a pair in the elimination round matches shall be added to their team's points to determine the Team Champion. ADVANCEMENT: Advancement on all Groups shall be as follows: 1. The top ranked pairs in each group and each draw will advance to their final round. A drawing of lots from the second ranked pair will determine a wild card to complete the semifinalists. The match up for the semifinal round pairs will be decided by drawing lots to determine which pair will go against which pair. The finals match will be composed of the two winners of the semi-finals. TOURNAMENT RULES: 1. Unless specifically described to be effective in this tournament, IBF rules shall apply. TIE BREAK RULES:The procedure to solve a round robin tie is as follows: 1. Ranking will be established by comparing the number of matches won. 2. If two players / pairs have won the same number of matches, the winner of the match between them will be ranked higher. 3. If three or more pairs have won the same number of matches, ranking will be established by the number of statistical points earned. *** If this still leaves two players / pairs equal, the winner of the match between them will be ranked higher. 4. If three or more players / pairs have won the same number of matches, ranking will be established by the difference between total games won and total games lost. *** If this still leaves two players / pairs equal, the winner of the match between them will be ranked higher. 5. If three or more players / pairs have won the same number of matches and are equal in the difference between total games won and total games lost, ranking will be established by the difference between total points won and total points lost. 6. If this still leaves two players / pairs equal, the winner of the match between them will be ranked higher. 7. If three or more players / pairs are still equal, then ranking will be established by drawing lots. Team Champion 1. The team that has garnered the most number of statistical points after all elimination round matches have been played, shall be declared the team champion. 2. In Case of a Two-Way Tie for Team Champion: 3. The captains of each team shall pick their best two players (not necessarily a class pair) from their line up and the two (2) pairs will battle it out in one (1) sudden death match of 21 points. The winning pair who wins garners the team championship title for their team. 4. In Case of a Three-Way Tie for Team Champion: 5. The captains of each team shall pick their best two (2) players (not necessarily a class pair) to play against the two (2) other pairs of the other teams. The three (3) pairs will draw lots to determine the pair with a bye match. The remaining pairs will go up against each other on a match of 21 points. 6. The winning pair will go against the pair who drew a bye match earlier. The winner of this match will be earning the Team championship for their team. 7. A team captain may use a different set of player/s per match as long as the same players, who start in a match, shall finish it. |
